The iPhone 4S looks the same as the iPhone 4, but it packs a speedier processor, a beefed-up camera and some new features.Overall there's a new iPhone in town. The iPhone 4S is the latest iteration of Apple's insanely popular smart phone, and, while it looks just like an iPhone 4 on the outside, it packs some surprises on the inside.
The iPhone 4S will be out on 14 October in black and white versions. It will also be available in 16, 32 and 64GB flavours, starting at £499. Let's take a look at what's new.The most important change is the new processor. It's Apple's own A5 chip, a dual-core affair that the company reckons will make the iPhone 4S seven times faster than the iPhone 4.
. The 4S has an 8-megapixel snapper that will capture snaps at a 3,264x2,448-pixel resolution. That's a step-up from the iPhone 4's 5-megapixel The camera can handle 1080p video recording. That's impressive, although some Android smart phones already offer this capability. Real-time image stabilisation is on the menu too.
Apple is keen to avoid making the same mistake this time around, packing the 4S with some clever-sounding antenna tech. The new wireless system inside the phone should allow it to switch between different antennas to improve call quality.
We were hoping for a more radical design overhaul, and, while a speedier iPhone with a more potent camera is appealing, this isn't the major update we wanted. Stay tuned for a full review soon.
